How we score Connecticut sportsbooks

Every operator we feature must hold an active Online Gaming Operator credential from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. Among licensed operators, we score on the following, in order of weight:

1. Bonus value and terms

Total value, how many steps it takes to collect, expiry, and whether the stake is returned on a winning bonus bet.

2. Licence and partner

Active DCP credential, named Connecticut partner casino, and no history of regulatory action in the state.

3. Markets and odds

Range of sports and bet types available to Connecticut customers, as published by the operator.

4. Payments

Published deposit and withdrawal methods, limits, fees and processing times.

5. Player protection

Deposit, loss and time limits, cool-off, self-exclusion and clear links to help.

6. App and support

App quality on iOS and Android, live chat availability, and how clear the help pages are.

We rely on public regulator records, the operator's published terms and our own review of its website and app. We do not currently place real-money bets for reviews. Scores are updated when terms or licences change. We currently feature one operator; Connecticut's other licensed sportsbooks, FanDuel and Fanatics, are not reviewed on this page. The headline figure is $200, but it arrives as eight $25 bonus bets over four weeks, and a bonus bet returns only its winnings: a $25 bonus bet at even odds pays $25, not $50. Read DraftKings' full terms before you deposit; the operator's page is the one that counts.

How to claim a Connecticut sportsbook offer

  1. Check you qualify. You must be 21 or older, a new customer of that operator, and physically inside Connecticut when you register and bet. The app checks your location.
  2. Register through the link. Tap "Claim Offer" above. You will enter your name, address, date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number for identity verification.
  3. Deposit at least $5. Debit card, online banking, PayPal and prepaid cards are common options. Some banks decline gambling transactions; online banking usually works.
  4. Place the qualifying bet. $5 or more on any market. Bets placed with bonus funds or boosts do not count.
  5. Use your bonus bets within 7 days. They expire. Set a reminder.
  6. Set your limits first. Both apps let you set deposit, loss and time limits in account settings. Do it before your first bet, not after.

How to verify a Connecticut licence

Every legal online sportsbook in Connecticut holds an Online Gaming Operator credential from the Department of Consumer Protection, Gaming Division. A badge in a website footer is not proof; the register is.

  1. Open the DCP eLicense lookup at elicense.ct.gov.
  2. Search for the operator's legal name, not the brand: Crown NJ Gaming, LLC for DraftKings.
  3. Confirm the credential type reads Online Gaming Operator and the status reads ACTIVE.

Frequently asked questions

Is online sports betting legal in Connecticut?

Yes. Connecticut legalized online sports betting in 2021 under Public Act 21-23. It is offered through operators licensed by the Department of Consumer Protection in partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, the Mohegan Tribe and the Connecticut Lottery. You must be 21 or older and physically located in the state.

How many legal sportsbooks are there in Connecticut?

Three online sportsbooks hold Online Gaming Operator credentials: DraftKings (with Foxwoods), FanDuel (with Mohegan Sun) and Fanatics (with the Connecticut Lottery). This page covers DraftKings.

Can I bet on college sports in Connecticut?

Partly. Connecticut law prohibits betting on in-state college teams unless they are playing in a tournament with at least four teams, and prohibits player prop bets on all college games. Check the operator's market list before you bet.

What is a bonus bet?

A bonus bet is a free wager credited by the sportsbook. If it wins, you receive the winnings but not the stake; if it loses, nothing is deducted from your cash balance. Bonus bets cannot be withdrawn and usually expire within days.

Do I need a promo code?

No. The DraftKings offer applies automatically when you register through the link on this page and meet the deposit and bet requirements. Always read the operator's terms before depositing.

Are my winnings taxed?

Yes. Gambling winnings are taxable income for federal and Connecticut purposes. Operators issue a Form W-2G above certain thresholds, but you must report winnings even without one. Keep your own records.

What if I'm having a problem with gambling?

Call the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling at 1-888-789-7777, 24/7 and confidential, or call or text 1-800-GAMBLER. You can also enrol in the state's voluntary self-exclusion program through the Department of Consumer Protection.

Play responsibly

Betting is entertainment, not income. Set a deposit limit before your first bet; every licensed Connecticut operator offers deposit, loss and time limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion. Connecticut also runs a statewide voluntary self-exclusion program at ct.gov/selfexclusion.

If gambling is causing problems for you or someone you know, call the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling at 1-888-789-7777 (24/7, confidential), chat at ccpg.org, or call or text 1-800-GAMBLER or 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738).
